Sermons from Science

This pavilion was sponsored by the Christian Life Convention of New York City with the purpose of illustrating the compatibility of faith and knowledge. Its building, with its scalloped roof, was reached by a ramp which curved over a reflecting pool. Jets of flaming gas and splashing water ringed the area and drew attention to the pavilion.

The show took place in a circular auditorium that seated 500 people. Dr. George E. Speake amd James I. Moon of the Institute of Science, a division of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, presented the wonders of science. It was a clever magic show using principles of science to amaze the audience. During one show the demonstrator sent a million volts of electricity crackling through his body to ignite a piece of wood in his hands. Other demonstrations included; A Cry That Shatters Glass, A Frozen Shadow, A Flashlight That Talks, a Stammering Machine, Invisible Energy That Sets Steel Aflame, Eyes That See in Total Drakness, and Electron Magic with a Ribbon of Rust.

Educational films were also shown in the auditorium. These included; "City of Bees" (on life in the hive) and "Red River of Life" (on the heart).
