Quebec Industries

The task of the Quebec Industries pavilion was to introduce to foreign visitors as well as Canadians both the impressive economic development of New France (Quebec) and the immensity of its resources. The theme of the pavilion is the St. Lawrence Industrial Basin.

In its 160 seat projection room, where on its giant 650 square-foot screen, Hydro-Quebec presented live television coverage of its great Manicouagan dam in the province's northland via the longest closed-circuit television system in the world, some 500 miles from dam to spectator. Each day from 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. visitors could watch the great feat of taming the Manicouagan River. The dam, when finished, would increase Quebec's hydro-electric production by 5,500,000 kilowatts.
