Pioneerland - Fort Edmonton

In a traditional western setting, sponsored by the city of Edmonton, visitors were transported to the exciting days of the old Canadian West. The complex is surrounded by a stockade of tree trunks and inside is an authetic replica of an old western town. It featured action-packed saloons, general stores, barber shops and other typical Gold Rush period establishments. Visitors could get a haircut, be photographed behind bars at the town jail, eat at two restaurants, or see the show in the Golden Garter Saloon where leggy chorus girls danced atop the bar. And in the lake in front of the fort were log-rolling demonstrations.
